Maarit Manninen

Maarit has solid experience in technical translations. She has worked at Sonator since 1997, and in 2005 she took on the position of managing director. Since 2007, she has been a co-owner of the company. Maarit has studied translation and interpretation at the University of Tampere (TUNI/Translation studies) and is a member of the Finnish Association of Translators and Interpreters (www.sktl.fi). She has also studied for a Further Qualification for Entrepreneurs.

A keen winter sports enthusiast, Maarit is also a ski instructor and often works remotely from the Ylläs ski resort in Lapland.

Hanna Lappalainen

Hanna worked at Sonator as a technical translator during the years 1994–1999 and has now been a co-owner of the company since 2007. Her other experience includes working as a translator for Bauhaus Finland during its early days and as a translator/communications officer at Örum Oy Ab, a provider of automotive spare parts and accessories, where she was also in charge of corporate communications for the entire Mercantile Group and marketing communications for the Autoasi chain of spare parts outlets and workshops during the launch phase.

Hanna is an MA from the University of Tampere, where she studied translation and interpretation (TUNI/Translation studies) as well as journalism and mass communication. She also has a first degree in corporate communications (ProCom PT) and a Further Qualification for Entrepreneurs. She is a member of the Finnish Association of Translators and Interpreters (www.sktl.fi). Her hobbies include various association activities, amateur theatre and dance fitness.
